CERITA MISTERY SEGITIGA BERMUDA

Misteri melingkupi sebuah wilayah laut di dalam garis imajiner yang menghubungkan tiga wilayah yaitu Bermuda, Puerto Riko, dan Miami di Amerika Serikat.

Ada yang menyebutnya ‘Segitiga Setan’, ‘Limbo the Lost’, ‘Twilight Zone’, dan yang paling tenar adalah sebutan ‘Segitiga Bermuda — terinspirasi dari artikel Vincent Gaddis di Majalah Argosy.

Meski, dalam peta Amerika Serikat, The U. S. Board of Geographic, tak ada tempat bernama ‘Segitiga Bermuda’.

Wilayah ini jadi salah satu lokasi paling misterius, horor, dan menakutkan di muka Bumi. Apalagi, dalam sejarahnya, banyak kapal dan pesawat yang tertelan di lokasi itu.

Legenda Segitiga Bermuda makin ramai diperbincangkan ketika pada 5 Desember 1945 pukul 14.10 waktu setempat, lima pesawat yang dipiloti para penerbang terlatih dari kesatuan Penerbangan 19 tiba-tiba hilang di segitiga itu. Padahal cuaca sedang cerah.

Para pilot sempat meminta pertolongan lewat radio, namun, mereka tiba-tiba raib. Pesawat yang ditugasi mencari mereka juga raib misterius. Dilaporkan enam pesawat dan 27 orang hilang dalam peristiwa itu.

Juga peristiwa hilangnya kapal induk USS Cyclops pada 1918, yang hingga saat ini jadi misteri terbesar dalam sejarah Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat.

Berbagai macam dugaan aneh muncul, ada yang mengatakan alien yang bersembunyi di bawah lautan, portal ke dimensi lain, gas methan, lokasi Atlantis yang hilang, hingga rumah iblis, Dajal.

Namun, ada juga penjelasan ilmiah yang lebih layak dipertimbangkan untuk menjawab misteri ini

Seperti di muat laman LiveScience, ada jawaban logis untuk menjelaskan hilangnya kapal atau pesawat di Segitiga Bermuda itu.

Daerah Segitiga Bermuda rentan terhadap badai tak terduga. Ada gelombang — Gulf Stream — yang sangat cepat dan turbulen — menelan serpihan kapal, pesawat, beserta penumpangnya. Menghapus bukti-bukti terjadinya bencana.

Tak hanya itu, Laut di Segitiga Bermuda memiliki kedalaman hingga 30.000 meter atau lebih dari 9.000 meter dengan kondisi topografinya bisa ‘menelan’ kapal sehingga tak pernah ditemukan.

Laman Sejarah Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat, www.history.navy.mil, menjelaskan bahwa faktor signifikan yang menyebabkan hilangnya kapal di Segitiga Bermuda adalah arus laut yang kuat disebut Gulf Stream.

Sebelum telegraf, radio dan radar ditemukan, pelaut tidak tahu ada badai atau angin topan berada di dekatnya.Bencana itu baru ketahuan setelah ada perubahan di cakrawala.

Badai yang datang tiba-tiba itulah yang menyebabkan kapal angkatan laut hilang di Bahama, Saratoga. Kapal dan-krunya hilang tak berbekas pada 18 Maret 1781.

Dijelaskan juga bahwa tidak hanya di Segitiga Bermuda, banyak kapal-kapal Angkatan Laut AS lainnya telah hilang di laut karena badai di seluruh dunia — secara mendadak.

Kapal dan pesawat bisa hilang secara tiba-tiba di wilayah Segitiga Bermuda itu karena anomali kompas yang bisa mengacaukan sistem navigasi. Soal adanya anomali ini pernah dicatat oleh Columbus dalam pelayarannya.

Dalam sejumlah catatan disebutkan bahwa Segitiga Bermuda adalah salah satu dari dua lokasi di dunia yang memiliki anomali. Wilayah lain adalah laut Jepang dan Filipina, yang juga dikenal dengan nama yang mirip, ‘Segitiga Formosa’.

Faktor cuaca juga ikut berperan mengapa kapal dan pesawat hilang di Bermuda. Pola cuaca Karibia-Atlantik sangat ekstrim. Badai lokal yang mendadak menimbulkan cipratan air kencang yang bisa jadi bencana bagi pelaut maupun pilot.

Penelitian satelit bahkan membuktikan, adanya gelombang dahsyat setinggi 80 kaki atau bahkan lebih, terjadi di wilayah laut terbuka, seperti halnya Segitiga Bermuda.

Gelombang ini bisa menghancurkan kapal besar dan membuatnya berkeping-keping.

Ada juga faktor topografi dasar laut di Segitiga Bermuda. Dari benting [gundukan pasir tengah laut], pulau di bawah laut, hingga palung yang luar biasa dalam.

Dengan kombinasi arus kuat, kapal atau pesawat bisa terjebak di dasar laut untuk selamanya.

Sementara, seperti dimuat laman Pattayadailynews, 6 Mei 2010, ahli geokimia, Richard McIver pada 1981 memperkenalkan teori peran gas metan hidrat dalam misteri Segitiga Bermuda.

Kata dia, longsor di dasar Segitiga Bermuda besar kemungkinan mengakibatkan lumpur dan batu besar meluncur dengan cepat — yang akhirnya merobek dasar laut dan membuka selubung lapisan gas.

Gas itu lalu pecah dan mengeluarkan metana yang menyebabkan gelombang besar. Gas itu meledak di permukaan air tanpa peringatan dan menyulitkan setiap kapal atau pesawat yang lewat di lokasi itu.

Yang juga menyebabkan kecelakaan adalah faktor mnusia. Banyak pelaut dengan pengetahuan seadanya nekat menyeberangi daerah serawan Segitiga Bermuda.

Penjaga laut Amerika Serikat selama ini telah mengabaikan faktor mitos atau fiksi di Segitiga Bermuda. Menurut pengalaman mereka, gabungan kekuatan alam dengan segala ketidakpastiannya adalah biang keladi ‘kekalahan’ manusia di Segitiga Bermuda.
